A Case for Personality Bags During the Day
It's like bringing a fun friend from the party
I’ve never been one of those people who change out their bag regularly. I’ve always admired it but never adopted it. In fact, I am so bad at changing bags that I recently continued to carry my fluffy evening bag for days and days after an event.
BUT THEN, I started really liking how that feathery bag was looking with my regular, every day clothes — particularly when I was in between dressing. The bag gave me friction with a casual outfit that made it interesting and layered. It was like bringing a fun, glittery friend from the party the night before to converse over coffee and errands the next day.
I’ve found that I love the juxtaposition — and it’s even more fun to buy for.
Of course, these bags are typically smaller. I still carry a simple tote for mom things or my laptop while carrying these little gems. However, I urge you to try out a small personality bag in a wacky color or a beaded, interesting texture for your every day life (it’s an amazing way to bring in METAMORPHIC COLOR that we’ve talked about too). It’s also incredibly easy to find vintage options out there that cost next to nothing + a good way to dip your toe in something maximalist for all of you fellow minimalists.
Let’s get more life out of our “evening only” type bags.
They deserve some time in the sun too.
